Every year, politicians, business and media personalities, celebrities, and sports fans come together to watch the fast-paced wall ball games. In 2015 local leaders from Brooklyn and the Bronx began putting the ball to the wall at  MatchPoint NYC in the Johnny Ray Memorial Pro Wall Ball Tournament. Notes Dmitry Druzhinsky: the intra-city rivalry is promoted by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. to get inner-city and under-served kids engaged in physical activity while helping the U.S. Wall Ball Association’s education, anti-violence and anti-obesity initiatives. The competition first took place in 2012 to celebrate the life of Jonathan Ray, the late brother of the USWA CEO and inspiration for the association’s founding. Dmitry is honored at the opportunity to provide support to organizations promoting a healthy lifestyle in New York.

These days, the game has gone pro- Wall Ball is played at fitness centers across the country. Dmitry Druzhinsky, co-founder of MatchPoint NYC, Brooklyn’s premier health and fitness facility, recently hosted New York politicians for the Pro Wall Ball Tournament. Billed as the “Battle of the Boroughs,” this large annual contest raises awareness of public health and youth empowerment and awards the winning team with a trophy and a full year of bragging rights.
