MatchPoint NYC is located on a three acre lot on Coney Island and features over 120,000 square feet of state of the art equipment and amenities, but its most famous offering is an expansive nine court indoor tennis center, the largest such facility in Brooklyn. The luxury sports center was co-founded by Dmitry Druzhinsky in 2013, after noticing a lack of recreational centers in the region. Due to his dedication to members, employees, and the surrounding community, the complex quickly became the selected venue for families, professional athletes, and cause driven charity events. “They are great to work with,” noted Darren Port, CEO of Powered by Professionals and an organizing member of this year’s tournament. “He has really gone out of his way to invite us to work with them, and that has helped make the event really special in the two years we have had it here. The foundation does a great job in keeping its expenses low to ensure that the money raised goes towards the cause, and MatchPoint’s generosity helps make that possible.”
The R Baby Foundation is America’s first and only charity organization with the goal of saving infants’ lives by improving pediatric care, and to date, has given $8 million to hospital programs and saved more than one million lives. The nonprofit’s annual tennis tournament was formed in 2010 by Jason Pinsky, “Six years ago I saw the foundation was doing a golf event, and I suggested we should do a tennis event,” he notes. “The first year was sort of a test and it went well, and the demand has been high ever since. We bring together a great group of competitive guys for a great cause.” Dmitry Druzhinsky notes that the Foundation has raised over $500,000 in 2015 and 2016, going towards childcare initiatives including telemedicine with pediatric experts, mobile simulation training programs, and also symposiums.
MatchPoint NYC hosted the R Baby Foundation’s annual tennis tournament for the second year in a row on Saturday, April 16. MatchPoint’s co-founder, Dmitry Druzhinsky is pleased to announce that the event raised over $250,000 and featured tennis professionals and Wall Street’s leading financers.
The center’s rhythmic gymnastics center, basketball court, Yoga studio, and full size gym with top-notch equipment allow it to host athletic events that other sports clubs simply cannot accommodate, according to Dmitry Druzhinsky. The USA SAMBO Open Championship, featuring the world’s masters of Sambo and Judo, saw participants from twelve different countries, and crowned the World Champion of the sport. In a community outreach initiative, MatchPointNYC hosted politicians from Brooklyn and the Bronx to compete in the Johnny Ray Memorial Pro Wall Ball Tournament, an event used as a platform for the local figures to speak about the importance of public health and youth empowerment.
Spanning three-acres and containing over 120,000 sq. ft. of space, MatchPoint NYC offers an impressive array of equipment and amenities, including a restaurant and a juice bar. Its most recognizable feature, according to Dmitry Druzhinsky, is a massive, nine court indoor tennis arena, the largest tennis facility in Brooklyn. Local and international tennis greats frequent the grounds, such as Kazakhstan’s Aleksandr Nedovyesv and the former number one ranked women’s player in the world, Dinara Safina. Additionally, the R Baby Foundation, a charity aiding hospital programs for endangered infants, has selected MatchPoint as the host for its New York Tennis Tournament for two consecutive years.
