MatchPoint NYC hosted the R Baby Foundation’s annual tennis tournament for the second year in a row on Saturday, April 16. MatchPoint’s co-founder, Dmitry Druzhinsky is pleased to announce that the event raised over $250,000 and featured tennis professionals and Wall Street’s leading financers.
The center’s rhythmic gymnastics center, basketball court, Yoga studio, and full size gym with top-notch equipment allow it to host athletic events that other sports clubs simply cannot accommodate, according to Dmitry Druzhinsky. The USA SAMBO Open Championship, featuring the world’s masters of Sambo and Judo, saw participants from twelve different countries, and crowned the World Champion of the sport. In a community outreach initiative, MatchPointNYC hosted politicians from Brooklyn and the Bronx to compete in the Johnny Ray Memorial Pro Wall Ball Tournament, an event used as a platform for the local figures to speak about the importance of public health and youth empowerment.
Spanning three-acres and containing over 120,000 sq. ft. of space, MatchPoint NYC offers an impressive array of equipment and amenities, including a restaurant and a juice bar. Its most recognizable feature, according to Dmitry Druzhinsky, is a massive, nine court indoor tennis arena, the largest tennis facility in Brooklyn. Local and international tennis greats frequent the grounds, such as Kazakhstan’s Aleksandr Nedovyesv and the former number one ranked women’s player in the world, Dinara Safina. Additionally, the R Baby Foundation, a charity aiding hospital programs for endangered infants, has selected MatchPoint as the host for its New York Tennis Tournament for two consecutive years. The competition features Wall Street’s elite financers and has raised over $500,000.
